How to Receive Mother Lakshmi’s Grace
During the Month of Shravana

Throughout Shravana Masam, Mother Lakshmi’s grace overflows abundantly. This month is particularly dedicated to the worship of Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi. Tuesdays and Fridays are significant days for worshipping any form of Divine Mother, and during Shravana Masam, these days are even more powerful.

The four Tuesdays of Shravana Masam are known as Shravana Mangalavaras, special days for worshipping Gauri Devi, the consort of Lord Shiva. Similarly, the four Fridays are devoted to Sri Maha Lakshmi. As Aishwarya Pradayini, Goddess Lakshmi bestows every kind of wealth—financial, spiritual, and emotional. By worshipping Sri Maha Lakshmi during Shravana Masam, devotees can eliminate anxiety, poverty, and ill health while attaining peace, brilliance, and prosperity.

Amma recommends chanting the Samputita Sri Suktam during Shravana Masam. For those unfamiliar with this mantra, listening to a recording or doing japa (repetition) of any Lakshmi Devi or Devi mantra is also beneficial. Meditation during this time is especially powerful.

For the entire month of Shravana Masam, it is advised to consume only sattvic foods, including dairy products, fruits, nuts, chapatis, vegetables, lentils, and rice. Reducing salty, sour, spicy, and oily foods enhances spiritual practice. This period is an excellent opportunity for spiritual aspirants to focus on their sadhana (spiritual practice), maintaining a pure heart and mind, speaking truthfully, and acting with compassion and righteousness (dharma).
