Special abhishekams, homams, and pujas will be performed on each Tuesday during Shravana Masam in honor of Sri Mangala Gowri Devi, a sacred form of Mother Parvati. Worshipping Her during this time bestows auspiciousness, protection of family, prosperity, and long life for one’s spouse.
Mangala Gowri devi is prepared with 108 kilograms of turmeric and 100,000 bangles, followed by abhishekam, homam, and Shodashopachara Puja.
Shravana Masam Tuesdays are deeply sacred for the worship of Sri Mangala Gowri Devi, a compassionate and protective form of Devi Parvati, who grants blessings for marital harmony, family welfare, health, and auspiciousness in the home.
At Amma’s Penusila Ashram, each Shravana Tuesday is observed with traditional devotion through:
- Sri Mangala Gowri Homam
- Sri Mangala Gowri Abhishekam
- Shodashopachara Puja
- Offering of 108 kg of turmeric and 100,000 bangles to the deity
This vratam is mentioned in the Bhavishyottara Purana and is traditionally performed by married women, especially during the first five years of marriage, or by those praying for the well-being of their families and long life of their spouses.
These sacred pujas are part of the Shravana Masam Maha Mandala Pujas at Manidweepa Mahasamsthanam. Through the sankalpa taken in the devotee’s name, each sponsor becomes inwardly connected to the puja, as though they themselves are performing the offering before the divine.
